Birds are beautiful, inspirational and international. Birds are excellent flagships and vital environmental indicators.
Birds command our attention because of the brilliance and beauty of their plumage and the music of their song. They have
dominated the skies for 150 million years but their origins extend even further back. Birds are direct descendants of the
dinosaurs that roamed the earth 200 million years ago.
Scientists recognise that there are about 9.000 bird species. In Kuwait there are currently 364 species off which 8 are
globally threatened.
